About us
The company
Frágangur (Bílafrágangur ehf.) was founded in March 2020 by technology entrepreneur Helgi Pjetur together with vehicle dealers Grétar G. Hagalín and Steinar Þór Guðjónsson.
Helgi Pjetur has a long track record of founding technology companies, among them Alfreð, Aur, Leggja and Stokkur. Grétar and Steinar own and run Netbifreiðasalan (NBS) at Hlíðasmári 13 in Kópavogur.
Frágangur's goal is to make vehicle transactions entirely electronic from start to finish, and to offer everyone buying or selling a vehicle a service that makes those transactions safer, simpler and faster.
In 2022 Arion Bank joined Frágangur's group of shareholders.

To give our customers the best service we can, Frágangur works electronically with all the major lenders in Iceland, with the insurance companies, and with the Icelandic Transport Authority.
Licences and certificates
Frágangur operates under a licence from the District Commissioner of the Capital Region, granted in August 2019. Frágangur carries professional indemnity insurance for vehicle dealers, and licensed vehicle dealers work at the company.
Our environmental policy
Protecting the environment and the air we breathe matters a great deal to everyone who works at Frágangur. Our system produces every document and sends it where it needs to go electronically. The service contributes directly to better air quality and lower emissions, because our customers sign electronically and never have to drive to us to sign paperwork.
We have committed to designing every addition to the system with environmental considerations in mind, and we encourage all our partners and stakeholders to do the same.

With help from Taktikal, our electronic signature partner, we can measure the kilometres, the CO₂ and the number of car journeys our customers save by using Frágangur. All data used in these measurements is anonymous. Measurement began on 24 April 2020.
